LTE Antenna Design for Mobile Phone With Metal Frame

A novel Long Term Evolution (LTE) antenna design for mobile phones with metal frame is proposed. In particular, in this design only the metal frame acts as the antenna radiating element, and the full-band LTE is covered with the help of a bandpass filter, an inductor, as well as a matching circuit. An antenna prototype is fabricated and measured; the measured operating bands with S11 lower than -6 dB cover 698-960 MHz (LTE low band) and 1710-2690 MHz (LTE high band). Good agreement between the simulation and measurement is obtained.
