Numerical implementations for calculating the load current of an infinitesimally thin cylindrical dipole

The theory of receiving antennas was well-developed by A.F. Stevenson utilizing the superposition theorem and the Lorentz reciprocity theorem (see Quarterly of Appl. Math., vol.5, p.369-84, 1948). The load current can be expressed in terms of the open-circuit voltage and the input and load impedances. With the aid of the Rayleigh/Carson reciprocity theorem alone, the same expression for the load current of receiving antennas can be derived from the classical theory proposed by C.T. Tai (see Technical Report RL 999, Dept of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, The University of Michigan, 2001). However, both theories fail to provide proper power relations. A new theory, based on Hulst's scattering theory, was presented by Tai to satisfy the law of conservation of power in a receiving antenna. The load current is formulated in terms of several new functions. We employ numerical techniques to demonstrate that, for a long and infinitesimally thin cylindrical dipole, the two different expressions for the load current yield the same numerical results within the allowed accuracy.
