  • Abstract

We're pleased to present you the Proceedings of the third International Conference on Eco-friendly Computing and Communication Systems, 2014 (ICECCS 2014). The third conference in this series, organized and hosted by National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal, assumes greater significance as there is now increased call for improving sustainability of our environment. The conference, held (from) 18–21 December 2014, offered an opportunity to researchers and developers working on green and sustainable technologies and applications to share information and insights about their work. Though it was focussed primarily on eco-friendly computing, the conference provided an opportunity to all the researchers, academics, technologists and practitioners from all the related fields to share their work and deliberate on how they could work collaboratively to address many challenges facing them in Enis sustainability of our environment. Eco-friendly computing, improving energy efficiency, reducing carbon footprint and fostering sustainable development are truly interdisciplinary involving many fields - not only different areas of engineering but also areas such as management, sociology and human psychology.

We received an excellent response to our call for papers spanning a range of areas of current interest and relevance and selected papers of high quality for presentation in the conference and publication in this proceedings. This proceedings is also featured in the highly sought after online IEEE digital library Xplore. You'll find the proceedings informative, useful and relevant. Thanks for your interest; enjoyable reading!

I would like to acknowledge with thanks contributions of our program and organising chairs, committee members, reviewers and authors; our host, National Institute of Tecbnology Karnataka, Surathkal, who made this conference a grand success and memorable.
