  • Abstract

We take pleasure in welcoming the participants of ISCBI 2014 and thank the General Chairs for providing us with the opportunity of serving the symposium as Program Chairs. It was indeed, an honor albeit the job was a challenging one. Our task was made more onerous by the submission of a number of quality manuscripts from the searchers of the top-ranking institutions. We wish to take this opportunity to congratulate the authors of accepted manuscripts and hope that the shortlisting of their papers will inspire them to pursue their research with more vigor. However, it must be emphasized that for the other set of authors, there is no room for feeling disheartened. Extremely competitive selection process did not permit many good papers to be included in the program. In other words, rejection at ISCBI14 should not necessarily be viewed as a mandate on the quality of those researches.

We thank the IPC members, who despite being extremely busy otherwise in their respective profession, had extended their full cooperation and submitted their findings of the allotted manuscripts in time. We also thank all the authors who had shown keen interest in ISCBI 2014 and submitted their research outcomes. Finally, let us hope that the new technical knowledge, as contained in the proceedings of ISCBI14 and deliberated at the symposium, will come in handy towards advancing the progress in the emerging fields of Computational and Business Intelligence.
