A new type of liquid density transducer based on the principle of linear variable differential transformer

There are many uses of liquid density transducers in the industry. Cost and complexity of calibration or installation can discourage their use in some applications. This new type of transducer works on the principle of a hydrometer, replacing the graduated scale with a linear electronic transducer. It provides a simple, rugged, low-cost alternative to more expensive devices. Minimal effort is required for installation and calibration in many industrial processes. The design is flexible enough to allow continuous, accurate measurement of the density or specific gravity of many industrial chemical mixtures of various concentrations. By modifying the float and weight assembly the transducer can be used for a wide range of liquids. Signal conditioning unit outputs 4-20 mA for the calibrated range of the density. The unit is also flexible enough to accommodate various sizes and types of float and weight assembly.
