Energy Consumption Analysis and OH Radical Detection of NO Conversion Process From Flue Gas Using Pulsed Corona Discharge

Pulsed corona discharge has been proved to be effective in the treatment of gas pollutions ejected from flue gas. In this paper, chemical characteristics of pulsed corona discharge plasma and its application of nitric oxide (NO) conversion process are investigated with different gas mixtures. The NO conversion efficiency increases with the increasing oxygen concentration and relative humidity, which can be achieved up to 98.3% when oxygen concentration is 21.3%, while the single pulse energy is only 0.29 J. Possible reaction pathways of the NO conversion process in the plasma generated by different gases are also proposed. In the pulse corona discharge, the NO conversion process is mainly governed by reactions with oxygen-derived radicals. OH radical is considered to be the most important radical in NO oxidation process in H

O/N
₂
mixture. However, it has a little influence on NO conversion in rich oxygen atmosphere.
