Tuning electronic properties of molybdenum disulfide by a substitution in metal sublattice

The electronic properties of molybdenum disulfide have been modified by substitution of molybdenum atoms with non-isovalent Re and Nb atoms. Similar approach results in preparation of semiconducting Mo
_1-x
Re
_x
S
₂
and semimetallic Mo
_1-x
Nb
_x
S
₂
materials. These solid solutions were exfoliated in organic solvents. Nano size colloidal dispersions were used for preparation of thin films. All materials are characterized by a set of modern methods.
