Review of Joule heating in graphene nano-ribbon

The excellent electrical and thermal properties of graphene nano-ribbons (GNRs) hold great promise for applications in future integrated-circuit technology. Although many research works demonstrate Joule heating as the main failure mechanism, there are still a lot to be known. Maximum current densit y is t he one bot h of fundament al and practical reason. As it is relevant to determine the type of loads that GNRs could drive in a circuit and Joule heating failure. A rise in temperature negatively affects electronic devices, decreasing performance by lowering carrier mobility and reducing the device lifetime. Both experimental and theoretical studies about Joule heating in GNRs are reviewed here to get a better understanding of it.
