Synthesis of vitcamphor derivatives of camphor and its preliminary anti-inflammatory activity

The vitcamphor was synthesized from camphor as starting materials via the bromination, followed by esterification, reduction, hydrolisis and oxidation. The structure of the target compound was confirmed by
¹
H NMR and
¹³
C NMR, and the overall yield was increased from 6% to 12%. The purity of the tide compound was over 96 %. The anti-inflammatory activity of vitcamphor was determined by vascular permeability of mice and rat carrageenin induced edema model. The vitcamphor in used doses exhibited remarkable inhibitory effect on histamine induced increase of vascular permeability and significantly reduced the paw swelling.
