Extracting Chinese-English phrase translation pairs based on tree-tree alignment

Phrase translation pairs are very useful for bilingual lexicography, machine translation system, cross-lingual information retrieval and many applications in natural language processing. Linguistics knowledge in lexicon and statistics information in corpus can be used for extracting phrase translation pairs. In this paper, we propose a new method to extract phrase translation pairs based on aligning Chinese parsing tree and English parsing tree in a bilingual sentence pair. Experimental results indicate that the extracted phrase translation pairs achieve 59.10% at accuracy, when the new method is applied.
