Topics in ad hoc and sensor networks [Series editorial]

The scope of wireless ad hoc networks continues to expand, and now includes not just sensor networks but sensor and actuator networks. Two articles in this issue consider wireless networks that include both sensors and actuators, while the third considers the issue of energy-efficient transmission in wearable body Area networks, or WBANs.
