Auto dissection of entity with three-dimensional netwok based on FDTD

A Software of auto dissection of entity with three-dimensional network for FDTD simulation is developed. Supported by Auto CAD, Visual Basic for Applications(VBA) is used together with Drawing Exchange Files(DXF). This software is convenient and efficient to transform any 3D entity created by Auto CAD for FDTD simulation, especially in geometrically complicated electromagnetic problems. At first,entities plotted by Auto CAD.Then this model is sliced into a lot of blocks by a program of VBA.These new entities will be approximated follow Staircase Approximation(SA). And the final model messages are saved as DXF format. A follow-up program is called for extracting model information. And the electromagnetic parameters of model are determined by the color code of itself. Finally, the model is simulated by a FDTD program. Correctness and practicability of the software are validated through an example of TEM horn antenna.
