Second generation parametric processing devices in high confinement fibers

We review recent developments in optical processing with high-confinement fibers. The use of new methods for measurement of dispersion fluctuations has allowed accurate phase matching over long interaction distances for the first time. The new capability was used to engineer wideband devices and demonstrate new capabilities in amplification, frequency conversion, sampling and delay management. The prospects of parametric processing technology are outlined.
