Subnanosecond (Er,Yb) Glass $Q$ -Switched Microlasers: 3-D Transient Modeling and Experiments

We present a new 3-D transient model and new experimental data for Q-switched eyesafe microlasers based on (Er,Yb) glass with a Co

:spinel saturable absorber. Subnanosecond pulses have been achieved for the first time using shorter, more highly doped laser glass. The model gives reasonable agreement with data for different Er
³⁺
concentrations and cavity lengths, using only published or measured input parameters
