Thermal-hydraulic parameters optimization of the improved dual-cooled waste transmutation blanket for FDS

Because the structure of dual-cooled waste transmutation blanket (DWTE) needs to have the capability of removing tremendous thermal power, its maximum temperature already reach to the limit of 316SS. Based on the DWTE concept, the improved DWTE is put forward. China low-activation martensitic (CLAM) steel (9Cr1.7WVTa) is selected as structure material in the present version of DWTB. UC particles, which are suspending in LM, are used as fuel. This paper presents the thermal-hydraulic design and parameter optimization of the improved DWTB. The results of thermal-fluid calculations for DWTB, which includes velocity fields, temperature fields and pressure fields, have been obtained by computational fluid dynamic finite volume codes.
