Higher-order (2,8) FDTD method for solving multiconductor transmission-line equations

In this paper, higher-order finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method with second-order of accuracy in time and eighth-order of accuracy in space for solving general multiconductor transmission-line (MTL) equations is presented. This algorithm is applied to calculating lightning-induced voltages on lossy power lines. Computed results using various numerical schemes are illustrated and compared on graphs. It is shown that the solutions obtained by using the highest-order scheme have the highest accuracy.
