Performance of large-area CZT detectors for hard X-ray imaging

We have developed large, monolithic CZT detectors for hard x-ray imaging applications. Detectors measure 32/spl times/32 mm/sup 2/ and 25/spl times/25 mm/sup 2//spl times/2 mm thick. Crossed strip readout gives 0.5 mm spatial resolution. Signals are read out by four 32-input ASICs, with spectroscopic analysis performed on the anodes. Results are presented on the detectors' spatial accuracy, spectral response, and effective area. Also presented are imaging results with the detectors employed in coded mask imagers.
