117 Gbits/s Quantum Random Number Generation With Simple Structure

We propose and implement a simple quantum random number generation (QRNG) scheme based on the quantum phase fluctuation of a distributed feedback (DFB) laser. The probability distribution of the simulation result, got from the theoretical model we established, fits well with the experimentally measured data. Min-entropy estimation and Toeplitz-hashing randomness extraction are used to obtain the final random bits. As a result, 117 Gbits/s random bit generation rate can be obtained offline, what we believe to be the fastest approach compared with the previous similar schemes. The proposed QRNG has advantages not only in simple structure but also in high random bit generation rate, which offers a possibility to promote the practical application of QRNG.
