Performance Evaluation of Two Area LFC for Power System Based on ADRC Approach

Several problems, such as load-generation mismatch, exist within electrical power systems. As a result of load changes, the grid experiences the occurrence of frequency deviation from its required values. This change may affect the operation and stability of the system, which may lead to damages in machinery or grid collapse. To solve this problem, Load Frequency Control (LFC) has two objectives: keeping the frequency at set values and maintaining power exchange between transmission lines. In this present study, active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) have been borrowed from control theory and integrated to the LFC. The proposed method, applied into a two-area power system implemented in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment, have proven to be very effective in comparison with fuzzy logic.
