Simulation study on e-diffential function for dual motor hybrid heavy duty truck

This paper focusses on verification of a concept E-Diff control strategy which vectorises torque between two rear axle traction motors on an experimental hybrid heavy duty truck (HDT). The control strategy aims to achieve improved vehicle cornering performance by method of yaw dynamics control. Simulation results are presented, covering medium to high speed cornering, a smaller corner radius can be achieved for the same corner entry speed and steer input when using E-Diff torque control whilst the improvements are greater with a smaller vehicle payload.
