A High Performance High Frequency Inverter Architecture with Wide Load Range

In this work, a high frequency inverter system that can work in a wide range of inductive or capacitive load is proposed, which includes Class D inverter, novel active impedance compression network (ICN) and a passive T-type network. The optimal load range of Class D inverter under constant output power is analyzed firstly. Based on the optimal load interval, the parameter design scheme of the ICN is proposed, and the control strategy of phase and amplitude of ICN is derived. A 10MHz 50W prototype is built. The experimental results show that the impedance network can achieve impedance compression from a wide range to a narrow range. In this way, the inverter can work under optimal load condition, and the zero-voltage switching characteristic can be guaranteed.
