Measurements of the Cubic Anisotropy Field in the (111) Thin Magnetic Films

The report presents the complete description of the suggested experimental method for the determination of the cubic anisotropy field value in the thin magnetic film samples grown on the (111) plane. It is based on the measurements of ferromagnetic resonance frequency for the two specified directions of the bias magnetic field. A theoretical discussion is given which justify the expressions for the ferromagnetic resonance frequency for those directions as well as a method for the evaluation of the cubic anisotropy field. A measured experimental data are presented for the non-substituted yttrium-iron garnet film together with the calculated values of the anisotropy field.
