A Dielectric Resonator Antenna Based on SISL With High Gain for Millimeter-Wave Applications

In this paper, a rectangular dielectric resonator antenna (RDRA) based on substrate integrated suspended line platform (SISL) is proposed for millimeter-wave applications. 1Δ1 (1 < Δ < 2) radiation mode. By using the SISL structure, the loss is reduced and a high gain is realized. Compared to the traditional DRA fed by microstrip line and coupling slot, the proposed design presents merits of low substrate lost, self-packaging and high efficiency. Simulated results show that the proposed RDRA obtained 10 dB impedance bandwidth of 11.41 % from 24.95 to 27.97 GHz. At 26.03 GHz, the simulated gain is 6.58 dBi.
