Numerical Computation of Hydrodynamic Equations Based on Dyakonov-Shur Instability

The numerical solutions for the hydrodynamic equations based on Dyakonov-Shur (DS) instability theory are obtained by means of Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method and COMSOL Multiphysics software, respectively. The amplitudes and oscillation frequencies of the source current density and drain electron number areal density are achieved, and the plasma wave along the channel at different moments are analyzed. The influence of gate length and gate voltage on the frequency and strength of plasma oscillation are studied as well. The results computed through these two methods are well consistent with each other, which verified the accuracy of the simulation results.
