3D sensing of Gymnastics Competition using MEMS mirror Laser Sensor

In the field of sports, there are active movements to improve fairness in judgment by utilizing ICT (Information and Communication Technology). The scoring competition represented by gymnastics has a particularly high demand for accuracy and fairness of judgment. Fujitsu has been developing Judging Support System for Gymnastics using 3D laser sensor in collaboration with the International Gymnastics Federation and the Japan Gymnastics Association, and officially started operation in some competitions from the 2019 World Championships. This paper describes the requirements, the various developed technologies, and the results of application to actual competitions when the MEMS(Micro Electro Mechanical System) mirror laser sensor is applied to 3D sensing in gymnastics.
