A Data-Driven Analysis Method for Spatial Coupling of Renewable Energy

With the development of energy revolution, the proportion of renewable energy in the power system is increasing, which makes the impact of the spatial coupling between wind power or photovoltaic power on power systems more significantly. Therefore, it is necessary to calculate and analyze the spatial coupling of renewable energy (RE). This paper constructs a calculation method of the correlation of RE power generation between different areas, which can give strategies for the coordinated development of RE in different areas. Simultaneously, this paper also analyzes the complementarity of wind power and photovoltaic power in the same area and calculates the optimal proportion of wind-photovoltaic installed capacity. In the case study, we analyze the spatial coupling of RE of a real power system in China, and give the development suggestions of RE, which verifies the rationality and applicability of this method.
