Mode Pattern Investigation using Field Illustration Microwave Thermography

In this contribution, we present a novel approach for the investigation of waveguide modes. Basing on the Field Illustration Microwave Thermography (FIMWT) approach, electric fields are illustrated by means of the recording of a thermal foot print. The derivation of interdisciplinary theoretical basics lead to an optimized measurement setup that allows for a precise field investigation. Furthermore, electromagnetic simulations of different propagation modes are translated to thermal footprints and are compared to real FIMWT measurements.
