Proportional Integral Model Predictive Control for a Back-to-Back Converter Based UPS

This work proposes a back-to-back conventional converter with a Proportional Integral (PI) Model Predictive Control (MPC) strategy for Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) applications. The main objectives are to provide an output voltage with high power quality to the load and, at the same time, guarantee a high power factor to the grid. The predictive models for the proposed UPS are developed in order to control the grid current, load output voltage and the DC-link voltage. Simulation results using MatLab/Simulink software are presented considering load and grid disturbance to validate the control strategy.
