Thermal Analysis and Phase Transformation of Ti6Al4V Alloy Fabricated by Direct Metal Laser Sintering

Titanium alloys including Ti6Al4V have been used in cast or wrought form in the aerospace, biomedical and automotive industries for more than six decades. Recently, additive manufacturing techniques have been employed for the production of parts directly from a powder metal precursor with a chemical composition and mechanical properties suitable for various applications. In the present work, we investigate temperature changes and phase transformation of body crystal centered (bcc) structure into hexagonal close packed (hcp) structure laser powder bed fusion process. The finite element model was used to determine temperature of multi-layer deposition of Ti6AI4V. The obtained results can be used in the optimization of technological parameters.
