Design of diagnostic ultrasound signal processing system based on programmable computing architecture

Programmability and reconfigurability is a key symbol to measure the digital and smart level of diagnostic ultrasound equipment. This paper gives an example that the structure and implementation of diagnostic ultrasound imaging system based on programmable computing architecture. The system has 64 parallel transmitting channels to connect with echo signals. The receiving channels can realize the excitation signal generation of 128 element linear array or 64 element phased array transducer, echo signal conditioning and synchronous acquisition of 50 MHz and 12 bitSet. The digital echo data is sent to TMS320f DSP for organization after concatenation, beam synthesis and quadrature demodulation in Altera Cyclone-IV FPGA. Under the control of system software, DSP can reconstruct the system function by controlling the signal processing code in FPGA to meet the needs of the new generation.
