Using stator auxiliary slot to reduce AC loss of superconducting fan

The high temperature superconducting motor has the characteristics of high power-to-weight ratio and high efficiency. It can be used in some special occasions that traditional motors cannot meet, such as wind power generation, which has very important research significance. The existing methods to reduce AC loss include adding a shielding layer and using non-ferromagnetic materials. In this paper, a method to reduce the AC loss by using an auxiliary slot is proposed. The finite element software simulation is used to calculate the AC loss of a high-temperature superconducting wind turbine with a large capacity of 10MW under two different structures respectively. It is proved that the use of a stator auxiliary slot can effectively reduce the AC loss of the motor.
