Supportive Analysis of Battery Energy Storage System on Electricity Market Scheduling Considering Load and Wind Power Fluctuation

The development of battery energy storage system (BESS) brings opportunities to the power system application. The BESSs of small and medium sizes have been widely used as the companion of the renewable energy sources. It provides the local support for their participation in market. The systematic support of the large-scale BESS is pretty complicated to consider the network constraints and the global optimization. In this paper, the BESS is studied to provide the support for the multi-period market scheduling. the BESS as the pure reserve service provider is optimally dispatched considering the load and wind power fluctuation. The BESS is comprehensive evaluated by the total cost reduction with the its support. The simulation has demonstrated a typical case and provided the quantitative result on the PJM test system.
