Comparative analysis of new energy short-circuit current engineering calculation based on IEC standard and short-circuit capacity method

With the expansion of power system interconnection scale, A higher proportion of new energy is connected to the power grid, which makes the calculation of the short-circuit current (SCC) of the power system complicated in the grid planning simulation. Aiming at the fault characteristics of new energy plants and stations, this paper firstly introduces International standard IEC 60909-0 (edition 2.0 ed.) and the short-circuit (SC) capacity method; Secondly, the calculation models of the above two methods considering the impact of new energy are compared; Finally, an example is given to compare the calculation values of the fault current of the new energy in the planning grid with the two methods. The case shows: Compared with the SC capacity method, the calculation method adopted by the IEC standard is more conservative and is suitable for the calculation of the fault current of new energy sources with variety classes of faults.
