The Use of IgY (Immunoglobulin Yolk) in Cancer Prevention Seen in Liver and Stomach Cancers

Cancer is the number one death causing disease in the world. The best way for cancer treatment is prevention. Certain cancers such as liver and stomach cancers occur due to certain infectious agents. Stomach cancer is linked to the bacterial Helicobacter pylori (H. Pylori) infection, and liver cancer is linked to hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV). In our clinical trial, animals treated with IgY (Immunoglobulin Yolk) showed increased natural killer (NK) cell killing activity and IFN-r, which further helped the body’s immune system to kill the virus including HBV and HCV. Our clinical results show that that IgY products can indeed reduce the viral counts in Hepatitis B and C. H. Pylori can cause peptic ulcers, chronic active gastritis and gastric malignancies. Specific IgY can catch the H. Pylori bacteria, remove them from stomach, and reduce gastric malignancies. In conclusion, IgY can be utilized in the prevention of liver and stomach cancer.
