New Design of the Bearingless Switched Reluctance Motor

To obtain large levitation force density, a novel four degrees of freedom (4-DOF) bearingless switched reluctance motor (BSRM) with axial torque fluxes is proposed. Furthermore, independent torque magnetic circuit and levitation magnetic circuit designs are adopted to obtain self-decoupling of levitation force and torque. Firstly, the structure and working principle are introduced. Then, the mathematical model of levitation force is derived by equivalent magnetic circuit method. Finally, the simulation model is built and the levitation performances are analyzed by the finite element software MagNet 3D. The research results have shown that the proposed BSRM has the reasonable structure, correct torque and levitation magnetic circuits. Furthermore, the levitation mechanism, and mathematical models are further proved to be correct.
