Long-range MIMO Communication Using Plane Spiral OAM Mode-group

A communication prototype of plane spiral OAM (PSOAM) mode-group (MG) based multiple-in-multiple-out (MIMO) system is built in a line-of-sight (LoS) scenario. Then, a long-range wireless transmission experiment is conducted at a distance of 30 m (beyond Rayleigh distance). The bit-error-rate (BER) performance proves the feasibility of the proposed system. The obtainable single-way spectrum efficiency is 3.7 bits/s/Hz/stream. MG's vorticity can provide another controllable degree of free (DoF) to reduce the spatial correlation, it's more suitable for the long-range wireless transmission relative to conventional OAM multiplexing technique.
