Design of Multifunctional Vortex Beam Antenna with Miniaturized Size

Vortex beams have opened up new areas in multiplexing communication and radar imaging, which have also sig-nicicantly improved the spectrum efficiency. At the same time, as an emerging technology, there are few studies on improving the performance of antennas that generate vortex beams, which greatly restricts its practical application. For this reason, this paper proposes a vortex beam antenna and theoretically analyzes a uniform elliptical array model that is equivalent to the characteristic currents of the antenna. Then the antenna is designed based on the proposed model and miniaturization of the antenna is achieved through the slot design. The proposed single antenna realizes the generation of two vortex beams at 5.8GHz, and the design of the feed network further realizes the mode multiplexing of the vortex beams in two directions.
