Quality of Service monitoring technique for consumer applications in motion

Most applications nowadays are placed inside a mobile device or vehicle infotainment system. A significant number of these applications (i.e., video streaming and games) are communicating with a centralized cloud for service delivery, which is a process that depends on network bandwidth and latency. Knowing the exact Quality of Service (QoS) in each spatial geo-position can help many applications to improve the Quality of Experience (QoE) of application users. In this paper, a QoS monitoring technique for acquiring bandwidth and latency information is proposed. This technique reduces the amount of collected data that needs to be transmitted and reduces energy consumption to structure and transmit that data. The primary purpose of collecting these data is for QoS information to be reused in other, or the same, applications and cases, to improve QoE.
