Acoustic monitoring of outdoor areas by a sensor consisting of four microphones

In this paper we shall present recent results on outdoor areas monitoring. First we discuss the challenges of such a system and we show that it can be used as a general monitoring for smaller areas, but it can be part of a successful monitoring for large areas, in combination with other modalities. We present the sensor consisting of four microphones and describe few of its characteristics.
