Decentralized Underfrequency Load Shedding Based on the Droop Characteristic for Microgrids

The evolution of the power systems naturally led to the popularization of the concept of microgrids. In operational terms, the microgrid is a prominent alternative, offering a more reliable supply of electricity and facilitating the coordination of the system operator. Within this trend for improvement, this paper introduces a load shedding scheme based on the droop characteristic, capable of operating in a decentralized manner by using only local measurements. Therefore, the method is more adapted to the current operational reality of the microgrids, assisting in the regulation of the frequency of the system. Finally, the results indicate the adaptiveness of the proposed method to different underfrequency situations of a simulated microgrid.
