Estimation of Measurement Errors of High-Q Symmetric Fiber-Optic Structures with Optical Vector Spectrum Analyzers

The paper presents the results of an analysis of various methods for the formation of two-frequency probe radiation for measuring the characteristics of high-Q fiber-optic structures and errors that they occur. It was shown that existing solutions do not provide suppression of higher order harmonics, which leads to additional measurement errors. The authors have demonstrated that the use of tandem amplitude-phase modulation allows one to solve this problem, since the beats of the probing and side harmonics occur at different frequencies. Computer simulation of the device for generating of probe radiation is carried out and its analytical model is presented.
