An Investigation in to the Parasitic Influence on the Performance of Buck-Boost converter

A comprehensive study into the parasitic effects on the voltage ratio and efficiency of a Buck-Boost dc to dc converter is carried out in this paper. The parasitics considered for the study include inductor resistance, switching device resistance, diode forward voltage and capacitor equivalent series resistance. An equivalent circuit model is derived and based on the model, the influence of parasitics on the obtainable voltage gain and efficiency of Buck-Boost converter is investigated. Finally, certain suggestions or conclusions are drawn for improved converter performance and that are presented in the paper.
