Bistatic SAR Imaging with Satellite Phase Code Modulated Waveforms

Bistatic Synthetic Aperture Radar (BSAR) concept with a satellite phase code modulated (PCM) waveform is in the focus of the present work. Analytical description of the BSAR geometry in a three-dimensional coordinate system is suggested. The analytical description of the PCM waveform emitted by GPS satellites and the process of the signal formation is discussed. A mathematical expression of the PCM signal reflected from a flying object is derived, and based on it, an image function and image reconstruction procedure are defined. To prove the correctness of the geometry, the derived BSAR signal model and the image reconstruction procedure a simulation numerical experiment is carried out.
