Fault-Tolerance of Electric Drive with Field Regulated Reluctance Machine

This paper considers issues related to fault-tolerance of electric drive based on field regulated reluctance machine, presents the detailed review of reference materials. Fault-tolerance approaches are considered for different types of electric drives. The tentative assessment of fault-tolerance control effectiveness is made. The finite element method was used for motor torque calculation. The dependences of the torque of the electric drive on the values of load angle are obtained for different operating modes. It is shown that implemented fault-tolerance system could provide compensation of torque losses in case of phase lost. The averaged dependences of electromagnetic torque and phase current in field regulated reluctance machine as a function of the angle were used for analysis.
