Grid planning Considering the complementarity of flexible loads and new energy sources

With the continuous increase of flexible loads such as electric vehicles and energy storage, the adjustable margin on the load side continues to increase. The flexible loads have provided more options for the improvement of new energy consumption. In this paper, considering the interaction between flexible loads and new energy, a joint planning model for transmission and distribution networks has been constructed. Firstly, the investment costs and operating costs of power system has been used as optimization goals, which formulates flexible load and new energy capacity allocation plans. Then a mathematical model of flexible load is established from the aspects of transferable load, translational load, and reduced load. Furthermore, the complementary characteristics of wind and solar has been simulated. Finally, a joint planning model for the transmission and distribution network has been established. Simulation example proves that the equipment configuration scheme proposed by the planning model can effectively improve the capacity of new energy consumption.
