Distribution System Congestion Management by Charging Coordination of Plug-in Electric Vehicle

The worldwide increasing demand of electric vehicle further demands electrical sectors to enhance the infrastructure capabilities. The plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) in grid-to-vehicle (G2V) consider as an electrical load whereas it works as a power source during vehicle-to-grid (V2G) mode. Due to the accommodation of of PEVs in uncoordinated G2V mode in large number, the distribution feeders may reach to the congestion. To reduce the congestion, PEVs charging coordination strategy of G2V and V2G has been considered in this work. Firstly, a popular method known as random forest method (RFM) has been utilized to predict the PEVs state-of-charge (SOC) at the finishing of the PEVs journey. Secondly, an optimization problem has been formulated to reduce total charging cost of PEVs during G2V-V2G coordinated operation while managing congestion in distribution system integrated with solar powered charging-cum-parking lot (SPCPL). The work is tested on 38 bus radial distribution system.
