Construct Fine-grained Energy Big Data Using NILM Technology

Total energy consumption data analysis can hardly fundamentally meet the requirement of alleviating the increasingly severe global energy and environmental crisis. In this paper, we propose to use the non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) technology to acquire the detail energy consumption data to construct the fine-grained energy big data. The basic principles, different roadmaps, technical advantages and development status of NILM are introduced, and its commercialization trend is also described. A novel architecture of the NILM based energy big data system is put forward, and the functions of its core components are introduced. Then, the typical use cases of the designed NILM based energy big data system are listed and discussed in details, which show the practical significance and potential of constructing energy big data using the NILM technology.
