Robust Source Number Estimation Based on FMCW Radar with Multiple Initial Frequencies

We propose a new method to estimate the number of the sources for super-resolution DOA (Direction of Arrival) estimator with FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) -MIMO (Multi-Input Multi-Output) radar. The main idea is using the principle that the phase of the intermediate signals depend on the initial frequency of transmitted signals. We confirmed that the new method can distinguish the true DOA and the spurious when the number of sources is larger than the number of true sources.
