Removing Artifacts of Invasive Neural Recording Induced by MRI Scanning

Simultaneous recording of extracellular neural signals and magnetic resonance image (MRI) is believed to be of great importance for the understanding of brain function. However, the electromagnetic interactions between the recording devices and MRI scanning environment are notorious and potential threats that involve radiofrequency heating, harmful magnetic force, and artifacts in both electrical signals and images. In this review, we summarized the solutions to remove or reduce the MRI-related artifacts in the invasive electrophysiological signals, including designs of recording systems and off-line data preprocessing algorithms.
