Kinematic Modeling and Simulation of a Gough-Stewart Based High-precision Pointing Mechanism

To improve the pointing accuracy of the space telescope, a novel high-precision pointing mechanism based on the Gough platform is proposed. The structure of the mechanism is introduced in detail, which has no line guide rail. The kinematic model of the mechanism is derived, and the attendant angles of each actuator are obtained. The computational analysis is performed to numerically verify the accuracy and effective of the proposed methodology for the calculation of actuators. The equations for calculating the rotation angles of actuating motors are validated using the co-simulation technique. The analysis and simulation results show the proposed pointing mechanism has excellent pointing accuracy and the proposed method is effective.
